COME AND VISIT US

We know nothing beats a visit to get to know us. You’ll get to meet the boys, see classes in action and see firsthand just what makes Pilgrims’ so special.

Pilgrims’ boys will be showing you around and love doing tours.  They take place every Tuesday during term time.  You’ll be welcomed by the Headmaster, Tim Butcher and other members of staff as well as getting a chance to explore our school and grounds next to one of the world’s rare chalk streams, the pitches next to Wolvesey Castle and surrounded by an ancient flint wall and you’ll have the chance to visit the Winchester College Sports Centre used regularly by the boys. If you’re interested in boarding, you’ll also get the chance to meet a Housemaster and other members of staff who can answer any questions.

Our Open Mornings are also the perfect opportunity to come and see for yourself what a truly special prep school Pilgrims’ is.

WHAT IS A TASTER DAY?

Most people start with a visit to the school where one of our boys will act as guide, usually on a Tuesday.  That’s followed by a taster day where your son comes to Pilgrims’ for a day.  He’ll go to lessons, get to know other boys, have lunch and enjoy playtimes.  Age-appropriate assessments are done then too, We’ll then have a chat, give you feedback and answer any more questions you might have before you collect your son.

Offers are made in writing soon after.  Your place is confirmed upon our receipt of your completed contract and acceptance deposit. (Only if applicable will a confidential report from the current school be required before we can offer a place).

WHAT ABOUT BOARDING?

Boarding at The Pilgrims’ School is a truly enriching experience with a great sense of fun and community. It’s also a chance to test drive boarding in a small, nurturing environment before going to a larger senior school. Our boarding starts from Year 4, which is also the main entry point for the Choristers, the choral scholars for Winchester Cathedral Choir.

If your son would like to join as a boarder, you can arrange a visit for a detailed tour of the boarding house with a Houseparent, who’ll explain the daily boarding routine and describe the activities and fun excursions which take place in the evenings and every weekend. Your son will be looked after for the day by a current boarder, who will give him lots more information about boarding at Pilgrims’.  Please note, we are unable to offer an overnight stay to boys who are not currently at the school.
