A TYPICAL SCHOOL DAY

There a rhythm to a school day so although nearly every day is different, there is also structure and security.  At Pilgrims’ academic excellence is nurtured alongside a wealth of opportunities where a boy can explore his own interests and character and start to find his niche.

Boarders or day boys who come for breakfast start the day in the dining room before going to their various specialist classrooms for lessons.  This is where the prep school really shines and is much more like a senior school; boys have science lessons in a lab, design and technology in the D&T room, and French in the French teacher’s classroom.

In between lessons, boys let off steam at break times and have drinks and snacks provided to refuel them for the next lesson.  Lunch is in two sittings, lower at 1215 and upper at 1315.  Afternoons are often a mixture of sport, lessons, co-curricular activities and music.  The day ends with after-school clubs, Evensong, perhaps, for the Choristers and Quiristers, supper for boarders or day boys with Wraparound care, and then home time or boarding time.

The school is always a hive of activity, full of music, with countless trips, author, composer, poets or opera singer visits, creative workshops, drama showcases, charity events, quizzes,  cabaret shows, Pilgrims’ Got Talent or the Headmaster’s Christmas card competitions, Race Around the Quad, sledging, film making, harvesting the fruit and vegetables grown in the Pre-Prep or building a home for a stag beetle.

The variety and calibre of opportunities on offer at Pilgrims’ is what sets us apart, makes school days fun, and creates memories.
