Pilgrims

WELCOME TO OUR PRE-PREP

‘From day one, our boys are ready to explore the world, and Pre-Prep is the perfect place to begin that adventure’ – Head of Pre-Prep, Sarah Hall

Our youngest learners are nurtured to explore, discover, and grow in a supportive environment. Led by the boys’ own curiosity we encourage them to follow their interests, teaching a love of learning.

We build strong foundations in English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, French, Music, Drama and PE and often take learning outdoors creating hands-on experiences with our expert led Forest and Beach Schools.

Encouraging boys to explore the world brings learning to life and build confidence. We also take boys on regular day trips across the South of England.

We combine this approach with building resilient, curious learners who gain essential skills, have the confidence to express themselves and play with other children.

REASONS PARENTS CHOOSE PILGRIMS’ AS THEIR SON’S FIRST SCHOOL

  1. Recognised as a school that is ’Great for Pastoral Care’ in The Week’s Independent Schools Guide, being curious, confident and caring is at the heart of everything we do, from Reception right through to Year 8.
  2. Learning at Pilgrims’ is rich in curiosity and enquiry. We teach a creative curriculum within the context of inspiring topics boys enjoy. Boys write and read with teachers every day. Maths is taught in a multisensory way using a variety of materials with an emphasis on real-world problem-solving.
  3. Boys develop true confidence as they are taught in small classes by Key Stage 1 teachers, Early Years Foundation Stage teachers and subject specialists in Forest School, French, Music, PE and Swimming.

Learning happens indoors and out, and our setting helps. Boys love the Pre-Prep playground, riverside gardens and beautiful playing fields, with access to the Bishop’s Palace Garden and Winchester College water meadows and sports facilities.

We celebrate the boys’ achievements, and praise good behaviour and kindness.

Wrap around care is on offer, provided by our own Pre-Prep staff. Breakfast, supper and after-school clubs  feel like a natural part of the school day.
