Prep School Curriculum
At The Pilgrims’ School, we provide an ambitious and engaging curriculum that inspires every boy to achieve his full potential. Our specialist teachers bring energy and expertise to their subjects, creating a learning environment where curiosity thrives and a love of learning is nurtured. Teaching is tailored to individual strengths and interests, ensuring each boy is supported and challenged appropriately.
We believe education is a partnership between school, parents and pupils. Regular assessments, reports and parents’ evenings keep you closely informed of your son’s progress, with open communication at every stage.
The Prep journey is structured to build knowledge, confidence and independence:
-
Lower Prep (Years 3–4): Strong academic and pastoral foundations are established, with subject-specific teaching, setting in key subjects, daily sport and a wide range of co-curricular opportunities.
-
Middle Prep (Years 5–6): Teaching becomes more specialised, with setting in Maths and the introduction of Latin. Boys begin preparing for key assessments such as the Common Pre-Test.
-
Upper Prep (Years 7–8): Pupils are further grouped to support both challenge and achievement, with tailored pathways towards senior school entrance and scholarships, including preparation for Common Entrance and other examinations.
Throughout their time at Pilgrims’, boys benefit from a broad, balanced and well-structured curriculum that develops not only academic success, but also confidence, character and a lifelong love of learning.

Yesterday, we said goodbye to our incredible leavers. 💚
We are so incredibly proud of each and every one of them and everything they’ve achieved during their time here at Pilgrims’. It has been a privilege to watch them grow, learn and flourish, and we know they have bright futures ahead.
We’d like to wish all of our leavers and their families the very best as they embark on their next adventure.
But don’t worry… this isn’t the last you’ll see of them! 👀✨

🎨 Art and DT exhibition 🪚
Tonight saw the culmination of the work by our boys in Art and DT. With some truly staggering work on display the boys have showed amazing discipline, creativity and resilience which can certainly be seen in the final product.
A big thank you to our Art teacher, Ros Priddle and our DT teacher Any Herbert who have inspired the boys and curated tonight’s exhibition.
