How does Pilgrims’ work?
A prep school offers an educational journey which makes the most of the time children are at school and is designed for each stage in their development.
Our highly qualified teachers know how to inspire from day one in Reception and keep children motivated as they move through each section of the school. We operate as one, but with each year carefully thought out to suit your child at each stage and every year is crucial.

Pupils are grouped into stages mirroring the UK National Curriculum and according to what we know children need and when.
Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS):
Boys start Pilgrims’ in Reception and complete their EYFS education taught in their classroom, but with specialist teachers for Music, French, Forest School and Sport, lending their expertise from an early age.
Year 1 and Year 2 are part of Key Stage 1 and classed as Pre-Prep.
The focus remains on curiosity-led learning, with the focus on building literacy and numeracy through an array of projects and themes, on motor skills, and on learning through play and exploration.
Key Stage 2(KS2):
This begins with the Lower Prep (Years 3&4), where boys have a class teacher for most core subjects whilst the number of specialists increases to include Digital Learning, Art and Design & Technology. Boys then progress to Middle Prep (ears 5 & 6), moving from one classroom base to moving between lessons delivered by a full range of subject specialists. Boys are streamed for Maths only in Year 5, and for Maths and English in Year 6.
Key Stage 3 (KS3):
Boys complete their Pilgrims’ journey in Upper Prep (Years 7 & 8), tailored to prepare them in their final lead up to senior schools. Year 7 consists of a proto-scholarship class and two parallel classes; Year 8, a scholarship class, a Winchester Entrance class and a Common Entrance class.

Yesterday, we said goodbye to our incredible leavers. 💚
We are so incredibly proud of each and every one of them and everything they’ve achieved during their time here at Pilgrims’. It has been a privilege to watch them grow, learn and flourish, and we know they have bright futures ahead.
We’d like to wish all of our leavers and their families the very best as they embark on their next adventure.
But don’t worry… this isn’t the last you’ll see of them! 👀✨

🎨 Art and DT exhibition 🪚
Tonight saw the culmination of the work by our boys in Art and DT. With some truly staggering work on display the boys have showed amazing discipline, creativity and resilience which can certainly be seen in the final product.
A big thank you to our Art teacher, Ros Priddle and our DT teacher Any Herbert who have inspired the boys and curated tonight’s exhibition.
