Nurturing Every Boy to Fulfil His Potential

Interesting and interested.  That’s a Pilgrim.

We suit boys who’ll make the most of  the opportunities we offer, whilst also contributing to the school community. While founded on a Christian ethos, we welcome boys of all faiths and none and we aim to foster the character of every single Pilgrim.

Whether day or boarding, we nurture each boy’s interests and help him meet his full potential

We nurture the academic, musical, sporting, artistic, dramatic, environmental and charitable potential of each boy – using the wide and varied opportunities provided by our skilled and dedicated staff and our excellent facilities, all grounded in our ethos, history and setting.

Our aims

There really is more to a Pilgrims’ boy.

We encourage each of them:

  • to use his mind well and to make wise judgements;
  • to develop confidence tempered with humility;
  • to appreciate beauty and to be creative;
  • to value and develop his faith;
  • to have a propensity for positivity and enthusiasm;
  • to be able to appreciate and support the needs of others;
  • to be able to discriminate between good and better, between right and wrong;
  • to understand that with privilege (economic, educational and of access to resources) comes a responsibility both to be kind, and to collaborate with others to make a positive difference to the world he will inherit;
  • to seek their fullest achievement on a quest for, and enjoyment of, a life-long pursuit of excellence.

Purpose

Our purpose is:

To lead a childhood journey that seeks out and maximises individual potential, aspires to excellence, nurtures good character and self-belief, and creates globally-minded learners.

We lay strong foundations, nurturing pupils to have the curiosity to understand themselves, the commitment to develop themselves, and the confidence with humility to be themselves. We build on these to develop pupils who look outwards to make a positive difference and to serve the world around them both independently and through leading others.

We give our pupils excellent preparation for a challenging and changing world. We travel together as a community of Pilgrims.

Values

Heart – we value a love for and kindness towards others, growing strong and caring relationships in and beyond the School, building community, showing compassion and having courage.

Excellence – we value being the best that we can be as a school, always seeking to develop, to learn and to give outstanding provision while fostering the aspiration in each pupil to be the very best version of themselves

Joy – we value the central importance of fun and enjoyment for all those involved in the Pilgrims’ community in bringing a desire to learn and an enthusiastic positivity.

Integrity – we value honesty and having strong moral, Christian principles; we are one, whole, united community of pupils, staff and parents.

Respect – we value and recognise one another’s individual qualities, characteristics and feelings.
