Pre-Prep (4-7 yrs)
Our Pre-Prep nurtures curiosity, confidence and a love of learning through a rich, hands-on curriculum, where boys explore, discover and grow in a supportive and inspiring environment.
Pilgrims’ teachers are experts who are passionate about their subject. Their curiosity is contagious , meaning academic excellence is combined with great fun in the classroom to inspire a love of learning.
Learning at Pilgrims’ is tailored to each stage in a boy’s development and very much research led. Much of what we do is informed by the latest neuroscience around learning. We are very aware that we have pupils for the most formative years in a boy’s life, so we nurture their innate desire to learn about the world. We are conscious of the need to future proof children by training for attention and believe that the more we know, the easier it is to learn more. We are in an inspirational setting in which to this, balancing hard work with regular breaks, activities and enrichment activities that stretch developing minds.
We see education as a shared endeavour, so we keep you fully across your son’s progress with assessments throughout the year to give us and you a clear picture of how we’re all doing.
You’ll get official assessment cards four times a term as well as a full report at the end of the Christmas and Summer terms and Exam Report cards in exam season.
Parents’ evenings take place in person or virtually and we’re always on hand to answer your questions.

Pilgrims’ feeds some of the top independent schools in the country and ambitions are high. Each year, over 40% of our boys go to Winchester College.
However, a majority head elsewhere, and Pilgrims’ sends boys to a wide number and type of school: from co-ed (for example, Canford or Marlborough) to single sex (for example, Radley or Sherborne); and full boarding (for example, Charterhouse, Eton or Harrow) as well as day (for example, King Edward’s in Southampton and Portsmouth Grammar School).
Pupils who need extra support are guided by caring staff who build confidence and a positive approach to learning.

Yesterday, we said goodbye to our incredible leavers. 💚
We are so incredibly proud of each and every one of them and everything they’ve achieved during their time here at Pilgrims’. It has been a privilege to watch them grow, learn and flourish, and we know they have bright futures ahead.
We’d like to wish all of our leavers and their families the very best as they embark on their next adventure.
But don’t worry… this isn’t the last you’ll see of them! 👀✨

🎨 Art and DT exhibition 🪚
Tonight saw the culmination of the work by our boys in Art and DT. With some truly staggering work on display the boys have showed amazing discipline, creativity and resilience which can certainly be seen in the final product.
A big thank you to our Art teacher, Ros Priddle and our DT teacher Any Herbert who have inspired the boys and curated tonight’s exhibition.
