News and Information
Welcome to the news area. We hope you enjoy reading our news and blogs.
There a rhythm to a school day so although nearly every day is different, there is also structure and security.
At Pilgrims’ academic excellence is nurtured alongside a wealth of opportunities where a boy can explore his own interests and character and start to find his niche.
Boarders or day boys who come for breakfast start the day in the dining room before going to their various specialist classrooms for lessons. This is where the prep school really shines and is much more like a senior school; boys have Science lessons in a lab, Design & Technology in the D&T room, and French in the French classroom.
In between lessons, boys let off steam at break times running around the Yard or the Quad and have drinks and snacks provided to refuel them for the next lesson. Lunch is in two sittings, Lower at 1200 and upper at 1300. Afternoons are often a mixture of sport, lessons, co-curricular activities and music. The day ends with After-School Clubs (Commoners) and Wrap Around Care, Evensong, perhaps, for the Choristers and Quiristers, then home time for day boys and supper for boarders. There’s still time to call home or for some evening activities before lights out.
The school is always a hive of activity, full of music, with countless trips, author, composer, poets or opera singer visits, creative workshops, drama showcases, charity events, quizzes, cabaret shows, Pilgrims’ Got Talent or the Headmaster’s Christmas card competitions, Race Around the Quad, sledging, film making, harvesting the fruit and vegetables grown in the Pre-Prep or building a home for a stag beetle.
The variety and calibre of opportunities on offer at Pilgrims’ is what sets us apart, makes school days fun, and creates memories.

The main points for entry to the school are Reception (4+), Years 3 and 4 (8+/9+). Boys sometimes join other year groups, and at various times in the year, subject to places being available.
After school, your son can enjoy a variety of nearly 50 activities, known in school as 'Commoners'. Warhammer, running, fencing, remote control car racing, football, judo, scuba diving, board games, to name but a few of the activities available.

Yesterday, we said goodbye to our incredible leavers. 💚
We are so incredibly proud of each and every one of them and everything they’ve achieved during their time here at Pilgrims’. It has been a privilege to watch them grow, learn and flourish, and we know they have bright futures ahead.
We’d like to wish all of our leavers and their families the very best as they embark on their next adventure.
But don’t worry… this isn’t the last you’ll see of them! 👀✨

🎨 Art and DT exhibition 🪚
Tonight saw the culmination of the work by our boys in Art and DT. With some truly staggering work on display the boys have showed amazing discipline, creativity and resilience which can certainly be seen in the final product.
A big thank you to our Art teacher, Ros Priddle and our DT teacher Any Herbert who have inspired the boys and curated tonight’s exhibition.
