PERFORMING ARTS

Drama might look like simply playing a part, but it’s all about human connections.  It’s a great way to learn about emotions and feelings. Speaking confidently, working as a team, or communicating with a sense of conviction and compassion – drama is key to developing self-confidence.

Boys have many opportunities to perform, from public speaking and LAMDA competitions to workshops, readings and large-scale productions. Every boy  gets involved, on stage or  behind the scenes, helping to build confidence and creativity.

Drama lessons often follow themes such as Greek Theatre, Shakespeare or our recent double bill of Agatha Christie where accents, movement and improvisation came into play. Collaborative work encourages boys to express themselves and become articulate performers.  We also have several professional theatres nearby with their own productions as well as receiving hit West End tours.

LAMDA

The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) is one of the country’s top drama schools and an awarding body for Performance and Communication exams.

Taking LAMDA exams in Acting and Verse & Prose develops transferable life skills, encourages friendships, and overall, is a lot of fun.

We have a 100% pass rate and excellent results, but the main benefit is seeing boys grow in self-confidence.

PILGRIMS’ GOT TALENT

An annual event in the school calendar, PGT is a chance for our budding magicians, dancers, comedians, actors, musicians, diabolo masters to showcases the diverse talent we have here.

Boys are judged in true BGT style as they perform to a discerning audience of parents, family, and friends.

PGT became even more popular in 2026 thanks to our very own former Pilgrim, Rafferty Coope.

Rafferty was also a Chorister who made it to the LIVE Final of Britain’s Got Talent, coming 5th with his music and magic performance.

‘I loved my time at Pilgrims’. I was a Chorister and am so grateful to every wonderful teacher who encouraged me whilst reminding me that kindness and being considerate to others was what mattered most’.
